Rejuvenate Your Neck Line with a Neck Lift

Before and after images of a neck lift patient. As we age, fat deposits can begin to amass below the jaw line, resulting in a double chin, and loosened skin may gather along the jawline, creating jowls. Additionally, weakened neck muscles can cause visible vertical cords that run along the front of our neck. To correct these issues and rejuvenate the neck area, Dr. Oren Lerman can perform a neck lift at his Manhattan, NY, practice. As a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lerman can provide a safe procedure that helps you achieve the younger, natural look you desire.

Am I a Candidate?

As with any elective cosmetic procedure, neck lift candidates should be in good physical health. This means they should be without systemic health problems, such as heart disease or diabetes. Patients will meet with Dr. Lerman for a consultation to discuss what the treatment aims to correct. This helps ensure that patients have realistic goals going into surgery. You may be a neck lift candidate if you want:

  • To achieve a smoother-looking neck with sleeker contouring
  • To reduce pronounced banding or lines that run along the neck
  • To eliminate excess skin and fatty tissue beneath the neck that contributes to jowls or a double chin
Neck lift candidates will be in good overall health and have a double chin, jowls, or poor contouring in the neck area.

Customizing Your Neck Lift

Skin quality, bone structure, and your cosmetic goals are some of the key factors Dr. Lerman will consider when planning your neck lift. During your consultation, Dr. Lerman will review your health and aesthetic goals, and discuss with you the therapy option that can best make your desired treatment results a reality.

Dr. Lerman is committed to providing exceptional surgical outcomes and will not recommend a treatment unless it is the right approach in meeting a patient’s specific objectives. For patients with concerns along the neck, he may recommend a neck lift, a neck lift with liposuction, or other facial cosmetic procedure.

What to Expect during Surgery

A neck lift is performed as an outpatient procedure, typically using oral or intravenous medication for sedation, or sometimes general anesthesia. Once you are sedated, Dr. Lerman will make small incisions hidden under the chin and around the back of the ears.

Through these incisions, Dr. Lerman will tighten the muscles of the neck to create a more refined framework for your soft tissues. Liposuction may also be performed on patients with stubborn fat deposits. Excess skin will be trimmed, and the remaining skin will be smoothed for an appealing look. Finally, the incisions will be closed.

Most patients will return to work within two weeks of their procedure. A sensation of tightness along the neck, as well as bruising and swelling, will likely be experienced, diminishing considerably after the first week post-surgery.
