Boost Your Self-confidence with a Breast Lift

Weight loss, pregnancy, breast feeding, aging, and genetics can all alter the look and feel of your breasts. If your breasts have begun to droop or sag, or have lost substantial volume and firmness, we can help restore their shape with a personalized breast lift.

Breast lift procedures at our Manhattan plastic surgery office have helped many women improve their confidence and satisfaction in their appearance. To learn more, or to schedule a consultation with our highly trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Oren Lerman, contact us today

What is a Breast Lift?

Woman cupping her breastsUnlike breast augmentation, which is performed to increase and equalize the sizes of a patient’s bosom, a mastopexy can raise and enhance breasts that hang significantly lower than they once did. Mastopexy can be performed using a number of different incision techniques, depending on the specific case and the patient’s aesthetic goals. For instance, the size, shape, and position of a patient’s breasts, nipples, and areolas will largely influence where the incisions are placed to minimize visible scarring.

During breast lift surgery, intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia is used to ensure patient comfort. After the incisions are made, Dr. Lerman will reshape the underlying tissues to achieve the desired shape and fullness. The nipples can also be shifted to a more youthful, buoyant height, and if necessary, skin can be removed to reduce enlarged areolas. To compensate for the loss of elasticity, excess breast skin may also be removed.

Restore Youthful Perkiness With a Breast Lift

Dr. Oren Lerman is a board-certified plastic surgeon who can perform a breast lift to restore youthful perkiness to your bust line. He emphasizes tailoring each procedure to the patient's unique body and goals. Our surgeon can customize this procedure with options like biologic mesh, breast implants, or fat grafting.

Candidacy & Combining with Implants

Dissatisfaction with the appearance your breasts can occur for a number of reasons, most of which can be addressed with one form of aesthetic breast surgery or another. To determine whether or not a breast lift is right for you, important questions to consider include:

  • Are you unhappy with how your breasts naturally hang?
  • Are you unhappy because your breasts have lost their former shape and volume?
  • Are your breasts flat or elongated?
  • Do your nipples fall below the breasts’ crease, or do they point downward?
  • Is one breast lower than the other?

During your initial consultation, we will discuss your motivations for seeking a breast lift, as well as your expected results. Dr. Lerman will also explain how the procedure can help you achieve your goals, and what your treatment will entail from start to finish. Medical history, current and past medications, allergies, alcohol and tobacco use, and a number of other factors can determine your eligibility for a breast lift or other aesthetic surgery procedures.

It is important for our patients to remember that a breast lift procedure is limited in its ability to improve the overall appearance of your breasts. Although the surgery alone cannot increase the size of your breasts, if you wish to enlarge them at the same time, breast augmentation can easily be added for a breast lift with implants procedure.
