Body Contouring is a catch-all phrase that we use to describe multiple
operations for people who have multiple areas on their body that they are
concerned about the shape and appearance. This can include Liposuction or
sculpting the shape of the body. It can also include Abdominoplasty, or
Tummy Tuck, and it can also include multiple procedures such as a Thigh
Lift or a Brachioplasty, where we remove extra skin and fat from underneath
the arms. Body Contouring surgery is often done after massive weight loss.
Either from diet and exercise, or after weight loss surgery, such as
Bariatric surgery. Many people, after they've lost a lot of weight, still
have extra skin, and in order to improve the contour of the abdomen, or the
thighs, or the arms, Body Contouring procedures are performed to give you
that final shape and that final body that you can be proud of and be happy
with after you've lost weight. Body Contouring operations can be done in
stages or they can be done in multiple procedures at the same time. It
really depends on how much work you need to get done, and how many
different areas of the body you need to address. Consultation for Body
Contouring takes about an hour.
We would go over pictures of what you might expect. The operations vary
from a couple hours to multiple hours depending on, if you're combining two
or more procedures at the same time. And, usually, we stage the operation
if you need multiple areas addressed at the same time. Additionally, Breast
Reduction surgery or Breast Lift surgery, is also done with Body Contouring
to address all the areas that have sagged or that have extra skin. And when
I address Body Contouring, I try to really listen to the patients and
understand what are the areas that are concerning to them, so that I can
give them the right operation with the variety of procedures that we can do
to address all of the areas.
